The following is a brief guide for Overseas Doctors considering working in the UK.

Immigration Requirements

EEA (European Economic Area) citizens are not subject to any immigration restrictions. If you are from outside the EEA certain restrictions will apply. You should seek advice from the home office. Some positions may qualify as post-graduate training which requires a different immigration status from non-training posts.

Registration Requirements

If you are a doctor wishing to practice medicine in the UK, You must be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) before engaging in employment or training there. Registration grants prospective doctors the legal status necessary to carry out professional duties.

There are different types of registration: full, provisional, limited and specialist registration.
